My Visit to the Funny Farm Rescue & Sanctuary 🐴🐐🐕
If you’re looking for something different to do this fall, I highly recommend a trip to Funny Farm Rescue and Sanctuary in Mays Landing, New Jersey. I went recently, and honestly, it was incredible. The animals are so friendly and full of personality. They walk around freely everywhere, from dogs and ducks to sheep, goats, donkeys, parrots, ostriches, and horses. You can really feel how loved and well cared for they are.
Funny Farm Rescue and Sanctuary is one of the largest animal rescues in the Northeastern USA and has been voted one of the top 10 places to visit with your family in New Jersey. It’s truly a destination not to be missed, and the best part is that admission and parking are always free.
From Highlands, NJ, the Funny Farm is roughly a 90-minute drive (about 85 miles), making it a perfect day trip destination for families looking to explore more of South Jersey this fall.
What Makes Funny Farm So Special
The farm is home to over 600 rescue animals from all walks of life, everything from a friendly skunk to a 2,500 lb. Red Angus steer. Most of the animals roam freely and come right up to you, making the experience feel personal and joyful.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Funny Farm runs entirely on donations, with no state or federal funding. Every dollar goes toward providing food, shelter, medical care, and love to animals who have been rescued from abuse, neglect, or abandonment.
Everywhere you look, you see care, compassion, and second chances. It’s inspiring to see how much heart goes into giving each animal a forever home.
