When I first discovered Monty.s BBQ, it was during COVID. Like so many new businesses at the time, their opening was delayed, but once the doors finally opened, the smell of smoked BBQ filled the streets of Atlantic Highlands. I’ll never forget my first taste of the ribs — perfectly tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. This isn’t thrown together; this is smoked to perfection. And the best part? When you’re finished eating, your clothes will be baked in that irresistible smoked aroma long after you leave.
Since then, Monty’s BBQ has become one of the best BBQ spots in New Jersey. Every dish feels like something out of Texas or Nashville, from their melt-in-your-mouth brisket and perfectly seasoned pulled pork to their creamy mac and cheese, sweet cornbread, and the banana pudding that literally melts in your mouth.
