Two separate coyote attacks were reported in Saddle River, NJ this week, raising concerns for dog walkers and pet owners across North Jersey. Authorities warn that incidents like these are a reminder of the importance of wildlife safety for communities including Highlands and the Bayshore area.
Coyote Attacks in Saddle River
According to police, a resident on Chestnut Ridge Road near Werimus Road was attacked by a coyote Thursday evening while walking his dog. Less than 24 hours later, a worker on Chestnut Ridge Road near North Church Road reported a similar attack while also walking a dog.
Saddle River Police responded quickly, with support from the NJ Department of Environmental Protection Division of Fish & Wildlife and Tyco Animal Control.

Police urged residents to:

- Never leave small pets or children unattended outside
- Use extra caution near wooded or less-populated areas
