Rebecca J. Wells Kicks Off Highlands Mayoral Campaign
Rebecca J. Wells has officially launched her campaign for Mayor of Highlands, NJ, pledging practical, people-first leadership. A lifelong resident, firefighter, council member, and community volunteer, Wells says her deep roots give her the experience to guide the borough forward.
“Highlands has always been my home, and I’ve always believed in giving back to the place that raised me,” Wells said. “This town deserves thoughtful leadership and practical solutions. We can honor our history while creating a place where the next generation wants to stay and grow.”
Her campaign platform includes:
- Keeping property taxes manageable for residents
- Offering tax credits to local volunteers
- Improving public spaces like Marine Place Bulkhead and Kavookjian Field
- Expanding indoor recreation options and exploring a spray park
- Adding waterfront access, including a kayak ramp
Wells has spent 26 years with the Highlands Fire Department, served 15 years on the Borough Council, and currently sits on the Tri-District Board of Education. Together with her husband Charles, Fire Chief and Borough Fire Marshal, they are raising three children in Highlands.
With her record of service and commitment to the community, Wells says she’s ready to lead Highlands into the future.
